I am a professionally qualified and experienced psychotherapist with consulting rooms in Highgate, North London close to Hampstead Heath and also in Central London W1 near to Oxford Circus. I have experience working with a wide variety of issues which include those having relationships difficulties, depression, anxiety, stress related problems, eating disorders, low self-esteem, bereavement issues, difficulties with anger, and general disatisfaction and sadness. I offer a safe and confidential space in which to explore whatever may be troubling you, without fear of judgment or criticism.
Many people experience emotional difficulties at sometime in their lives. Often it's possible to resolve problems without seeking outside help. However at other times having the opportunity to talk issues through with a psychotherapist or counsellor can make a very real difference.
How Can Therapy Help?
Psychotherapy can help individuals to understand hidden aspects of themselves. There are many types of psychotherapy or counselling. Psychodynamic psychotherapy aims to address the unconscious as well as conscious roots of difficult feelings and behaviours and relationships. My aim is to help the individual to understand how difficulties in the past may be continuing to influence life in the present. This is achievable over time and in a confidential setting, with a secure relationship with the therapist. The aim is to work to enable you to manage life in more creative ways and to move towards deep-seated and lasting change.Frequently the hardest part is making the decision to start. It is not unusual to feel hesitant about making that initial step. It is certainly understandable to be unsure. It takes a lot of courage to seek help, but it is only through being able to question oneself and reflect more deeply that it is possible to begin to change unhelpful patterns and to heal. Finding the right psychotherapist or counsellor that you like and feel comfortable talking to is very important. Evidence suggests that the level of trust and empathy is more important than the type of therapy or any particular theory.
On the following pages I have provided information about the sort of psychotherapy I offer which I hope will be helpful and give a sense of how I work.
